TBX TONE CIRCUIT
The Duff McKagan Precision Bass has a control knob that activates its TBX (Treble Bass Expander) tone circuitry. The center-detent knob works like a normal tone control from zero to the detent. Turning the knob clockwise from the detent increases presence and brightness, while turning it counterclockwise from the detent rolls off high frequencies.

"P/J" PICKUP CONFIGURATION
The Duff McKagan Precision Bass features the tonally versatile combination of a pummeling split single-coil Precision Bass middle pickup and a bright, growling Jazz Bass single-coil bridge pickup, widely known in bass guitar circles as a "P/J" pickup configuration.
