The MG50CFX from Marshall Amplification is a four-channel, solid-state combo amplifier for electric guitar, featuring a single 12" speaker, five effects, a 3-band EQ, and dedicated reverb and delay effects. The MGCFX line offers four channels; Clean, Crunch, Overdrive 1, and Overdrive 2, to provide a wide tonal pallet of classic Marshall tones. The damping circuit offers further tonal shaping by emphasizing the mid-frequencies when off and boosting bass and high frequencies when on. This amp can be operated in either a Manual or Preset mode. In Manual mode the amp's settings always match the physical position of the knobs, while in the Preset mode the position of all controls except the Master Volume is stored within each channel and the physical position of the knobs will not match the settings of the amplifier. The Clean channel offers a harmonic-enhanced clean tone, while the Crunch adds a bit of distortion. Each of the Overdrive settings offers modern, high-gain tone with OD-2 providing the highest output.
The five effects include Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Vibe, and Octave, while the dedicated reverb offers digital simulations of Studio Plate or Spring reverb. The delay offers tap tempo with four settings including Hi-Fi, Tape, Multi-Tap, and Reverse. The EQ provides controls for Treble, Mid, and Bass and each of the four presets stores the EQ, effects, reverb, and delay settings. Additional features include a master volume control, a headphone output for silent practicing, an MP3/Line In to jam along with your favorite tunes, a switchable FX loop (send/return) for incorporating pedals and other effects, and a 'Store' button to easily save presets.
